Yes
Well my 8 year old is devastated, she went to turn her iPod nano on and the on/off button is broken.

A quick search of the internet and it seems this is a common issue

She has had it for just over a year so no guarantee

Have booked into the Genius bar for Friday for them to have a look at it but do not hold out much hope

Take It back anyway...kick off....Lynton!!!!!

Take her with you into the Genius Bar. Best bottom lip wobble and I'd bet they'll offer a new one or a swap out for a refurb.

Soga applies beyond one year and if its a known issue I'd expect apple to repair or replace free or the retailer to repair free or offer partial refund.

A premium product only lasting a year isn't acceptable. Even some Aldi tat would last longer!

Well I have my appointment at the Genius Bar at 11:30 this morning, here is hoping I get a favourable outcome

I would be surprised if you didn't. Good luck

Well that was a total waste of time

Refused to help as it was outside of there 1 year guarantee

Do Apple have a twitter account?

Where did you buy it from? You have rights under SOGA with the retailer.

I'm not really understanding this. If a one year guarantee has expired, then why do you feel there is an obligation to repair the iPod at their expense?

Because like most people I think it is reasonable to expect a product to last a bit longer that 18 months, plus consumer law agrees with that expectation

Also a quick search would suggest that this is also a common fault with the 6gen nano so yes I feel it is reasonable to expect them to swap it out (Apple say it would be uneconomical to repair)
