I used to have Nikon kit, full set of lenses always carried two flashguns (which would connect wirelessly) etc. Now I just take pics with an iPhone but want to examine whether it is worthwhile getting supplementary lenses, both telephoto and wide-angle.
My query is not only how good these might be (accepting the limitations of the iPhone 6 camera) but also how easy it might be to control depth of field, for example. And, given the standard iPhone software has autofocus how does focusing work with the supplementary (particularly long focal length) lenses.
I have Camera + installed but does anyone recommend other suitable software please?

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments or advice - bar go and get a proper camera, of course.

Nigel,

I can't help you much with regards to supplementary lenses etc, but I'm sure someone will be along to help you with that. Good photography apps for the iPhone which I use quite extensively are "ProCam" for my stills and "Filmic Pro" for my video.

I also use a "DJI Osmo 3" gimbal for video & stills and their dedicated app is also very good.

Hope this helps.,

George.

Hi Nigel,

I havent use of the add on lens so can't comment on those, but for the software there is a couple of better apps than the native camera app that I have used.

The first one is Adobe Lightroom, I have it as part of my bundle but I believe you can download a free version. The second one is DSLR Camera, I bought it years ago on an offer, think it was £2.49 or something.

Both apps let you select manual mode and control the following settings:

Image Formate: Raw, JPG, DNG
Shutter Speed
Exposure
Drive Mode (single shot, burst, timer)
ISO Control
Focus - AF or MF
White Balance
Flash

I havent seen any with the ability to control the aperture, not to say they don't exist though! Its also worth noting that I have an iPhone XS Max so the available features could be different to that of the iPhone 6. Hope this helps.

Very many thanks, George and Tkenny, for your helpful comments and suggestions. Much appreciated.
Nigel
