HI guys, hopefully this is the right forum for this issue ?
I know the issue of the Iphone 5S proximity sensor has probably been discussed ad nauseam, but most of what I have read on line concerns the proximity sensor not blanking the screen when a user puts the phone near their ear to receive a call, and thus the screen and buttons are still active. Either this or the auto brightness feature doesn't work.
Well the problem with my wife's 5S is slightly different but I think related, and could do with some advice. I purchased a "new" iphone 5S some months ago from a reputed ebay reseller, and the phone arrived in original packaging and still sealed etc. The Phone works great except for one really annoying problem. When a call is received or made, the screen notifies you as usual, and when you raise it to your ear the proximity sensor cuts the screen off (so a black screen - as it should), and you can have a conversation no problem. The issue is with the call still active, if you take the phone away from your ear (to use the keypad or option buttons for example), the screen doesn't come back on, and won't no matter what we do. The only way therefore to say end a call is to hit the power button to end the call and the screen then comes back on again.
Needless to say this is very annoying and frustrating on an otherwise great phone. Is this the same proximity sensor issue as mentioned above, i.e. will not even active screen cut off, but in reverse, or some other hardware software issue or glitch ? I could contact the seller but if it's an easy fix I'd rather do that first.
Any assistance gratefully received.
