Ipad photo upload size

Hi all,


When I upload photos to an IPad, do they need resizing with the aim of save space or does the IPad compress any size of image so each one takes up the same amount of space regardless of original size?

The ipad will no do any compression. I have a LR export preset that saves the files with a longest side of 2048 pixels.
