There are a host of ipad camera connectors on ebay and Amazon ranging from a few pounds to about £25 for the genuine Apple one.

As usual Apple is over priced for a bit of plastic but I suppose it will come nicely packaged!

Are the cheaper connectors any good and has anyone used them?

I have a genuine one. Fine if you use SD cards but if you rely on using the USB port and a USB card reader then you can sometimes run into problems as apple seriously limit the power available.

So I have heard....I want to be able to connect my Canon 50d to the ipad to download photos.

Are cheaper generic ipad usb connectors as good as the Apple ones?

I've got a £5.00 no name Amazon jobby and the card reader's sound. Not tried it linked to the camera.

The original apple one works fine with both cards direct and my multi card reader and also my Nikons direct...Might be a bit more, but it works and is automatically covered under extended warranty if you have Apple Care on your computers..

It also depends on the size of card you have in the multi card reader. Mine worked fine with 1Gb CF cards but not 16Gb cards
