I know I'm a worrier, sorry, I have posted questions about AV for Apple pc's previously.

Do I need an anti virus programme on my iPad please?

As stated above no need at all.
Apps from the appStore are all vetted before being released and they actually run in their own sandbox so "if" a virus managed to slip through the net then it would have nowhere to go.

People slag Apple off for having a walled system, but that prevents chaos from happening on your machines, unlike other certain OS's out there.
