Yes
So I'll start by saying I detest anything iOS but, certain relatives use it, so being the family technical support I'm kinda forced to use it at times, which always seems to involve multiple YouTube videos etc.

I've got MP3 audio books on my Android that a relative wants to get on her iPhone - I'm frustrated and struggling to do this for her. Have tried the LocalSend app and uploading them to my Google Drive and sharing them with her.

My LocalSend doesn't find her iPhone LocalSend app. Google drive on iPhone doesn't give the 'Download' option. How do I get these files to the iPhone?

I did think I needed an iPhone 16 Pro Max the beginning of this year.... 9 days later and it was on eBay, so I really don't get along with Apple!

Use Safari (web browser) to access the Google Drive and you will have a download button.
I'll give that a try, thanks....

Can't you email them to her? Or Dropbox?

Some emails have a limited file size. My Gmail sometimes can even send a pic of my TZ80 (jpeg) I'd be guessing and say mp3 audo books will be bigger that 25mb or whatever the emil limit is these days, at least mine is hopless.
Yeah, they're around 250mb each.... I thought Dropbox would have the same no download option as Google drive, so didn't look at it.

Come to think of it, sendthisfile.com might be an option. Long time since I've used it, but it's always been successful for me in the past.

Is "We transfer" an option?
they are actually no longer an option unless you intend to pay up quite a lot. Things have changed for the [much] worse!

iOS is absolutely horrid thing. The restrictions that don't make sense, the data lock in, the whole lot...

I probably would just try to get it onto bloody icloud from your device. The bloody icloud would at least work properly with the bloody iphone

I agree.

Now, it seems that they're trying to merge IOS and OS-X ... :headbang:

I don’t pay for the account that I use occasionally and I’ve used WeTransfer in the last couple of weeks to send about 200MB with no hitches

According to this notice the most recent change was in December to increase the file size limit to 3GB

New WeTransfer subscription plans

Starting December 2024, we introduced some important changes to the existing WeTransfer subscription plans. Here’s all you need to know about this restructuring.

Overview—what changed?

WeTransfer Free

    • Premium features, unlocked. These include unlimited portals, reviews, and file requests and password protection for every transfer. Plus, no more fees on paid transfers.
    • Increased file size limit. You can now send files up to 3GB in size (increased from 2GB).
    • Monthly transfers cap. Going forward, free users can complete up to 10 transfers and share up to 3GB-worth of files within a 30-day period.

Alternative simple solution to the OP’s question: sneakernet.

If both phones are relatively recent and have USB-C, an SD card and a card reader would sort it

Files app on the iOS device will allow you to copy data from the card

This is not true, you can still send upto 2 gig free with we transfer, you only have to pay if you want more data or a longer download period. I have just used Wetransfer yesterday
try to send another one now.... consider this a free trial

not sure about the current state of osx but it was clearly headed into that direction a while ago. I hope they haven't locked down access to file system?!

Judging by my wife's Sequoia system, they're continuing down that road.

Me: I'm keeping Catalina running as long as possible! :naughty:

Wouldn't using Airdrop make this simpler ?

Great way (actually brilliant) of sending photos to each other when close by

Think it works with other things other than pictures

Airdrop is proprietary to Apple.... I've got iOS & Android....

Thanks to all for the replies - WeTransfer did the job. I'm still trying to convince her to change to Android, but to be fair, she's probably too old to be doing that..... :)

Note: The free version of WeTransfer allows up to 10 uploads and 3GB per month, so that's more than enough for our needs.
