Just heard, they are closing down the internet today for a few hours for urgent maintenance work. Those involved say it should be up and running by tomorrow and you are requested to leave the internet as soon as possible.

Is thre enough time to grab a brew and my coat first? I believe it's cold out there.

I tried to follow your advice, but instead of logging out I hit delete. Can I reload the internet?

if you look at the BT service status page today you could actually believe this..

"Problem in the London and surrounding area plus various exchanges around the country including Northern Ireland (20CN and 21CN)"

narrow it down a bit please... lol

I wonder if Warehouse Express read your post and closed down for the day?

For some reason their site has been down for a while now, they're probably trying to help me save my money.

Well it is APRIL 1. So who got caught out on this one

I'm in the telecoms business and have a contact in BT. He quoted that 250,000 individual lines were affected by major flooding in their Paddington Exchange. If i recall he noted that the NI issues were due to the freezing temps.

I'm with Tiscali so I doubt I'd notice the difference......

I was just thinking that. It's quite ironic the OP posted this (obviously as an April fools) when half the UK actually is without telecommunications due to the fire at the Paddington main BT node.

They had to flood the building to put out the fire!

I'm sure i've got a disk somewhere... what version of Internet are we on again?

not sure why they had to include them on one status entry though when they had 6-7 for other towns in the country..

It was funny up until 2130hrs today when I got the totally carp BT Wholesale landing page!!
Thought I should dig out my 56K modem and connect for your benefit and amusement! :shake:
Now I'm going to call it a night and log out, and wait the few minutes for the next page to load...
