Does anyone listen to internet radio in the bedroom? What device do you use?

Reviews on internet radios aren't that good but was thinking about a tablet or some such. Any ideas welcomed.

Thanks,
AL

App on phone and a dock?

I use iTunes Radio and apple airplay

Thanks - I'm a decade behind aa far as mobile phones go, so would have to buy a new one. I think I would prefer to go up in size (tablet?) which would save me wearing specs in bed ;)

Thanks again,
AL

I use internet radio on a Pure radio in the bedroom, as an alarm in the mornings.

Most of the time it works fine, but some days will just not pick up the channel even though it shows a full signal. It seemed like the answer to me as digital radio is very poor where we live, but you definitely need a backup alarm if wake-up time is important to you!

I like Pure radios - we have two DAB versions in bedrooms now. However in this area the number of stations available is limited.

I've just thought about one of those Tesco Hudl jobbies. Cheap as chips and will only be used for radio. I may give it a try.

I'm retired so don't need an alarm clock very often ;)

If you are going to go for a tablet, check out TuneIn Radio. It's free and you can get stations from around the globe as well as UK stuff. It also plays UK stuff when you are abroad so I can listen to Radio 4 when I am travelling :-)

Some tablets don't give you much volume, but would be OK on a bedside table.
Also if you'd normally have your radio go off on a timer it's a bit hit and miss whether the radio apps go off with the screen or stay on on the background.

Thanks both. The 'off timer' is one thing I'll have to look into as it is something I do use.

We dont have a radio in the house instead we listen to the radio via the internet and have done for a number of years. I have various apps on my tablet as well as phone, such as tunein, spotify etc and listen via my appletv (downstairs) or airport express (upstairs).

I use a Pure One Flow in the bedroom (it does have a sleep timer if that's a requirement) and it has never failed to play internet stations for me, I also use an iPhone and dock in the kitchen with ooTunes Radio or Tunein Radio apps.

I use my Galaxy S4 connected by Bluetooth to a Jawbone Jambox speaker. Good sound quality on internet radio and I can stream my MP3 collection from my NAS too.

If you go for tablet - bluetooth works well or if it is apple (or you have any iOS devices), airplay :)

I use Tune in Radio on my iPhone via Airplay to a set of remote speakers.

Lots of stuff to think about here so I'm going to have to try to do some more delving. Quite like the Roberts Stream, but to set the off timer you need to go into menus - not great.

Sonos is great-although does require an app to work it!
