Has anyone had any experience with one of these kits? I'd like to make more use of my flashguns and this seems to offer quite a lot of different lighting options.

It seems reasonable value at £100 from Warehouse Express (see here for link).

Havent used them, but there is a lot of kit that you might not use...

Depending on what you want to do, try "FITP flash in the pans" thread in the advertisers section he sells loads of flash gear eg. umbrellas/softboxes... at great prices...

Check out http://www.strobist.com for off camera flash info...

most of that stuff can be made super cheap with fun foam and black straws rom a craft shop, ( i grabbed a load of black straws from the bar of my local pub last night..well, they did say 'free, take me on the tin!) and the other bits prob won't get used, like maybe the softbox and beauty dish..a bit on the small side

I've got this kit Matt. I'll be honest - I've hardly used any of it much. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with it and I suspect at some stage I'll use some of the stuff. It's just I have other light modifiers that work better for me.

Thes products are excellent and fairly cheap:-

These are the best softboxes for your flash (imo). But they're not particularly cheap (FITP's are cheaper)

What you might find useful is the beauty dish that comes with the kit - but it is small. The Globe Diffuser is useful if you need to throw light around a lot. The softbox is small and the lastolite above is far bigger and better. Not tried grids yet. The snoot's pretty cool.

Yeah, I've looked at FITP's thread and might end up buying a couple of things on it.

I've looked at the stobist site and found it really useful.

I'm not really one for making things but yeah, I've considered givng it a go and saving the money. The beauty dish and soft box are two of the items I'd most like in the kit, though you're right, it would be nice to have something a bit bigger.

Thanks Ryan. The snoot and beauty dish were what led me to find this kit as I'd been searching for them. Glad to see the beauty dish is somewhat useful despite its size. Maybe I would be better off buying things seperately. It just seemed a handy all in one kit that would give me plenty of things to experiment with.

Thanks for the links. The variable angle reflector looks particularly useful for shooting in those difficult to light high ceilinged large rooms.

I considere the strobies stuff, and instead went for the Honl Starter Kit. Pricey, maybe, well made -yes.

Homemade stuff is cool if you are doing things at home.

if its anything like the other kits on the market it will be pish

I have it on good authority that some of it may be available here on TP (without the Strobies branding but made by the same people) in the very near future...:naughty:

Excellent - look forward to contacting whichever good fellow is providing that service!

Hurrah...we all cried into the night in unison...!!!

Lookin forward to some snooting...!!!

Made by the same people, the only difference is the colour of the flex-adapter....and the price (projected to be roughly half)

very much digging the look of those grids/snoots... I've almost pulled the trigger on a viewfinder one a couple of times now...

Oooh, how near in the future is very near? I considered buying the interfit kit but thought it was a bit expensive considering I wouldn't use all of it.

They come in sets, however I was considering splitting them and selling the components individually. That would mean that the sinngle items would be slightly more expensive, but on the plus side you wouldn't have to buy a load of stuff you didn't want/need, how does that sound?

you should change your name to "strobe in the pan" if you are going to continue to use the incorrect term for flash accessorise lol

sounds good, can't say I'm after some of them at all, but been after a decent snoot / grid solution for speedlights for ages :/ could see you getting left with excess stocks of some of the items though... sure you can price accordingly (doubtless against my favour!)

one of the other companies does that but then I suppose you run the risk of not selling some of the bits

There's also a line of snoots and honeycomb grids in the Honl style, a version of which is marketed by Interfit in the Strobies range, those will be here in a week or so.

sweet :D I shall look forward to them, and have to try hard not to put in a softbox in the same order...!

FITP will your stuff fit the interfit flex adaptor.

Good idea but i'll quite happily buy the entire kit at roughly half the price of the interfit deal. It'll let me try out the bits and bobs without breaking the bank.

Hopefully we'll see these up for sale soon :)
