I think the cool-lite range run on flourescents, so produce very little heat.
I have two 5100K flourescent bulbs in angle-poise lamps that I use with my light tent and they're superb. I'm forever dragging them in to the office to take photos of products and the colour balance has always been spot-on. Very little heat with them too, so I can happily drape a cloth over the front if I want to diffuse the light a bit.
This was really a cheap way for me to light a small area. The bulbs were around £15 for 2 off Ebay, and each lamp fitting was around a fiver form Ikea. It aint pretty, but it does the job!
Afraid I can't comment on using them for lighting a big scene, but there are some 125W flourescent tubes out there which have a staggering light output which should work rather well for lighting a bigger scene. I'd be interestedin seeing your results!
