Does anyone know if you can insure an iPhone 6 on any camera insurance policy's?
I'm with Photoguard and have emailed them as I'm away at the moment

My insurer won't cover my iPhone, despite it obviously being a business essential, which is a shame.

I guess the risk of loss or damage to these expensive bits of kit is just too high.

Insuring separately can be an expensive proposition as well (I think my mate pays something like £15 per month for his). What I've saved by not insuring my phone individually would actually buy a new one! But it's obviously a gamble on my part.

What about your bank? My account covers up to 4 phones, max two claims in any 12 month period for theft, accidental damage, loss or fault.

I insure with Aaduki but they won't cover my phone. Never mind it being a business essential for comms, mine actually earns me money as part of my camera equipment. Tried explaining as much but there was no movement. Individual premiums looked poor value so took the gamble to not insure and just be careful...

Photoguard don't cover phones but my wife informs me that our HSBC account does so great news.
Thanks guys

Daughter-in-law recently dropped her iPhone into the loo; dried rice treatment failed to resuscitate it. My son remembered they had phone insurance in their home policy, so rang them up. Then rang me, spitting chips (at least partly at his own stupidity). The maximum amount the home insurance policy would pay was £250. The excess? £250. Net zero. :(

He bought a second hand one off the evil bay with more memory for £150 or so!

OTOH, my daughter badly cracked the screen on her Galaxy S4 (bought from Phones4U, with insurance). She eventually put a claim in, after saying for ages that the insurance wouldn't be valid. They agreed to replace the phone, but actually sent a Galaxy S5 instead. This arrived two weeks before the end of her contract, so she can run that one for a couple of years SIM-only!

I've added my iPhone 6 to my photoguard policy, and I've not had anything to say it isn't covered.

i had an email from photoguard to say they wont cover it.

Very interested in this discussion having dropped my iPhone 6 down the toilet a couple of days ago. Thankfully it seems to have fully recovered (locked in headphone mode for a while) but it scared the bejesus out of me - it's the 64GB model and I can't afford to replace it with another £600 phone.

I'm probably either going to switch my banking to Nationwide FlexPlus (£10 pm but multiple phone cover, travel insurance, breakdown cover and interest) or Santander 123 (no phone cover but the savings and interest will more than cover standalone insurance). Best standalone deal I can find is Insurance2Go - £60 per year paid upfront with a discount code.

This is worth a read.

I must speak to my bank to check exactly what the cover is and excess

I've been looking at insurance and think that if you have a policy that allows unspecified contents out of the house, usually below a certain individual value, then this would be covered. I am still juggling whether to keep it on the contents policy or split it off for separate insurance with another company.

I've bitten the bullet re the bank account change and gone with Santander - who don't include cover. So I'll be going with the £60 Insurance2Go option I reckon.

Lloyds give me free travel insurance through AXA and I recently lost my iphone 5s 64gb in amalfi. Reported it to the local police and made a claim when I got back and was paid with no out very quickly. Recommended.
