Hi

I've currently got a D40 and kit lenses. My 18-55 motor has stopped working AGAIN! I bought a 2nd hand one off here, only used it a few times and motor has died.

The original one stopped working after a few years use.

I'm probably upgrading soon, most likely to d90 17-70 2.8 & 70-300. Something like that.

I was insured with someone before (I think photoguard) but it only insures you against you dropping it etc. Are there any companies that insure it against it just stopping working?

Don't want to spend £1k sort of money then have to fork out lots for repairs in the future.

Thanks

Jon

you can buy extended warrenties against this sort of thing - but there is debate about if they are worth it or not. You can't get an insurance policy to do it though

In the past when I've bought equipment from Jessops they've offered an extended warranty for about 10% of the purchase price.

Can't remember who with but it covered accidental damage or any problems - not theft.

When the warranty ran out I was offered to extend it again but at about 35% of the original cost so I didn't bother.
