I want to insure my 400D (along with additional lenses and accessories) and was hoping you guys might be able point me in the right direction.

I'd like to insure each of the products both in and out of the home; preferably with accidental damage and theft cover - any recommendations?

First check that your household cover doesn't cover you. For most amateur use it may, depends on the policy. Get it covered for all risks and list lenses and bodies separately. This helps with the maximum single item clause.

If it doesn't shop around. I use Photogaurd for mine but others will give you their recommendations. Watch out for clauses that refer to "In Car Cover". Some lay down impossible conditions, others limit you what time of day the camera is covered in the car.

I heard photoguard is very good

Is this a pretty established company then? Haven't heard of them before, although prices seem fair.

Do check with your bank about insurance. Im covered for everything, not just photography equipment, but my personal possessions as well, at £17 a month. There is no excess and no get out clauses as far as I have come across. No depreciation on items either as I can see. Worth checking out.
