Hi everyone,
I have just purchased a Canon 18-55mm IS lens from ebay, but it has no instructions. I was wondering if anyone could just scan the bit about the IS option and send it to me if possible. Mainly I want to know if the lens has the tripod detection system, but I also want to make sure that there isn't anything else I am missing.
Many thanks
Ian

tripod detection system?
First I have heard about this.
IS is basically on or off.
I keep it switched on with my Canon 18-55mm IS kit lens.

Some lenses (I think they are the newer "4 stop" IS models) can detect if there is no camera shake (on a tripod) and turn off IS automatically.

cant hurt to just turn it off if it is tripod mounted. Thats what the switch is for.

haven't heard of them detecting tripods..interesting
however, there is off and on for short lenses
don't think it will have the mode 1 and mode 2 for 2 axis stabilization and vertical only for panning shots respectively like the high zoom ones

p.s having looked around I'm pretty sure it has no such detection functionality
