Yes
I bought an SSD and have seen a nice increase in speed. I am now looking to add my old hdd into the optical bay and have a second drive in the machine coupled with upping the RAM to 8GB.

I wondered if anyone has any idea where I can buy a caddy to fit the second drive into. Looking around prices vary wildly and I am unsure what to get? Anyone done this job and reccommend where i can get one.

I have the 13" unibody (non pro) macbook.

Cheers as always

Yep, that'll do nicely.

The second drive will be recognised by the OS and away you go (can't remember if it happened on mine but you might have to confirm that the SSD is your primary drive)

How easy to fit? Been looking at doing this to my mac once the warranty run out which is soon...

I'm looking at doing this too. Don't suppose anyone knows which drive is best to go in which bay? Would you put the SSD in the main bay as a boot drive and then stick the HDD in instead of the optical bay, or the other way round?

Take this with a pinch of salt as I don't have a mbp but I have read a lot into the upgrade options available one.

Keep the hard drive in its original bay as there is a sensor which senses if the device is dropped which lifts the head off the platter protecting the drive. The optical bay won't have this but the ssd won't need it for obvious reasons.

Hope this helps.

Joe
