Instagram new image dimensions?

With the recent changes I'm looking to upload some of my DSLR stuff to Instagram but I can't find the recommended dimensions for portrait/landscape modes. 1080x1080 is apparently the best at 1:1 - should I assume that 1080 on the long edge at 3:2 is best?

Has anyone managed to find something from Google? I did search, but all I found were guides for adapting 3:2 shots to the old format.

I believe it just adapts to the source image that you've imported. I tried it with a couple of shots from my DSLR and it allowed me to post them in the correct aspect ratio.

Thanks. I assume it must just downsize them to fit, so I can export as normal.

Yup - I believe that's the general idea. I'm a dedicated Instagrammer myself but I really wish they'd add a watermark feature to the app. At the moment I have to add the watermarks outside of Instagram, save the image to my photostream and then import the watermarked image into Instagram. All well in good but not very convenient if you're using the built in camera capture feature.

Surprised there's not a camera app somewhere that will allow you to add a watermark automatically.

Oh I'm sure there is but that won't help if you're capturing the shot using the camera option within Instagram. You could take the shot with an external app, save it to your photo stream and then import into Instagram but that adds an extra level of hassle. Lazy? Moi?
