Inspiration needed!

Basically, starting to drag myself of the office at lunchtimes to take pictures...
Only problem is theres not much exciting around, I usually walk down the canal which is behind my office, but theres really not much down there, I try and be as creative as I can but its really not working!
The water is all brown and dirty...

So can anyone think of anything I could do to liven it up a bit?

Play on it being dirty?
Look around for texture, graffiti, that kind of thing. Give your images some grit, and HDR or turn them into a really contrasty black and white....?

Because I really need to get out more with the camera, I've not been using it as much as I should!

thats fair enough Tom. Try to find a reason to take the photographs though. Maybe for a comp ro set yourself a task. For example.

Todays task is to photograph water ripples.
