I try and d o as little as possible PP, partly because I hate spending time behind a screen, and I am crap at it! Not sure what the issue is and woudl appreciate your input as to the two edits. I have added a noise reduction and woudl appreciate input / comment - subjective as well as obejective- Thanks in advance.

Looks a little dull on my TV monitor so I would try a little bit of brightening, a touch of increased contrast and a small amount of increased colour saturation then see how it looks.

how you adding the blur? as chest is out of focus compared to the rest
you also removed the exif information so we can only guess you doing it in photoshop
also as Peter said but darken the Background Not as good as your other bird shots

Hello Nice Bird images its always nice to see wildlife i use a program called Piccure+ to offer a little extra sharpening on my images it may just help out with the Feathers on the Bird.

Canon 7dii, 500mm, f5.6, 1/512 sec, ISO 800. Lightened in ELements, sharpened, pulled back highlights, pushed shadows. I thought the shot was noisy and so put one through a noise reduction. I guess the blur is natural talent??:(

Will look at Piccure +

Thank you for looking and the comments - I guess that I need to practice !!

Hi john. Love the tones and pov. Like the image full stop really. I may not be getting your question but I am not sure sure what it is you are not happy with.

Gaz

Sorry if i'm not awake and missed it.

Sorry if I did not make myself clear.I thought that the priginal was noisy and so put it through noise reduction.

Happy New Year and thanks for commenting

Noise looks fine to me, but it could do with being a lot sharper, don't think editing can fix it.

Be careful sharpening these small bird photos, see so many where the photographer mistakes feather detail for over sharpening effect.

Was it hand held with or without stabilisation? At that sort of focal length you are pushing it a bit at 1/512

John - if you take RAW images 99% of the time they will need some processing - the in camera software does not apply any "processing" defaults to RAW files (versus) what it does by default to jpegs, (have a look in your camera settings to see what the in camera software applies to jpegs)

When you apply NR it will reduce any detail in the image

If you apply NR to an image, do not apply the same level to every part.... be selective

with an image like this apply NR to every part other than the bird, and the sharpe DOF areas around the bird ....... either by applying NR to all the image and then using a "mask" to bring the bird back to as it was before NR was applied, but there are several other ways of doing this depending on the software that you have

The detail in the young Song Thrush above has been lost either, a), through NR being applied to the bird, b). camera or bird movement, or c). off focus ... as even at f5.6 you would have some DOF to give you a "range" of sharpness, albeit, smallish

+1.. Nice pic but Too much noise reduction, I reckon, and slightly underexposed.
