the canon inks cost such a lot more than the cannon compatible inks for my printer. But are they as good, and will my photo prints come out as well. In other words is it worth spending almost 10 times the amount on cannon inks?

i know i need to get profiles for them, but do i need to find new profiles for the inks? or should i use the same canon ink profiles?

Thanks
Charlie

Not sure about Canon but I've used 3rd party ink for my Epson R320 and didn't notice any reduction in quality...only a massive reduction in price as you've noted!

My I965 died using cheap ink but to be honest the genuine ones seem to last longer.I only use genuine in my I9950

I've tried "cheap" inks, and never really been happy with the results, compared to printer manufactures product. They don't seem to cut it in all honesty. But by all means try them.

I wouldn't think the original profiles would work. That's my experience. I'd also be surprised if you could find suitable ones. Sorry to sound a bit negative but after trying several alternatives, for quality, I've come back to original epson inks.

I use Jet tech ink in my Epsons and it works fine for colours, the blacks sometimes struggle specially on mid greys, which sometimes turn a little green. But I can put up wit that (or work around it) for the money I save on ink :)

I had an Epson printer destroyed by cheap inks, they didn't dry as quickly as the genuine inks and the rollers picked up wet ink and created 6 parallel lines across the image. :(

Only ever used genuine paper and inks since

Ive used third party inks about two years in my ip5000 and i9950.

You need a new profile for...different ink and every different paper you use

we use gen in all our canon and epson. just better pics .
we dont use gen paper ***. but ours are mostly A3+ printers. used fuji paper and had major probs with profiles. now we use q imaging profiles and colour spectrum paper.
we use epson paper. in the canon A4

I tried the cheaper option on my Canon i965. I'd used half the ink by the time I got it looking right and then the next lot (same supplier) looked wrong again.
Genuine Canon for me...

well i've ordered the cheap ones, my logic being: if they are crap it wont matter as they didn't cost me much. But if they are good then its a bonus. :D

thanks for the help guys.

I've just bought some inks for my epson r800 from http://www.premier-ink.co.uk/ i can thoroughly recommend them, they came the next dayand were a good price. I would only ever buy epson cartridges in my opinion its just not worth the risk of cheaper inks....
