I am using a Canon 7D Mk1 with a Hoya 720nM filter. My images are no where near as impresssive as when I was using a 350D. Could the 7D not be suitable due to sensor etc? CONFUSED

Not the sensor, but the infrared blocking filter on the 7D will be a lot better, so less infrared light is getting through to the sensor.
I still use an old 300D sometimes for infrared shots, often thought about removing the blocking filter from it, maybe one day, it doesnt get used for anything else.

Converted my 600D a while ago a lot easier than with the filter.
