I'm due to get an infrared filter for my birthday and wondered if there are any good tutorials out there that anyone could recommend? I'm looking to shoot landscape images and was ideally looking for "tips", "do's and dont's" or "how to" type guides.

There are some tutorials on youtube.

One I have watched is

. A very in depth chat about it but one tip I did pick up is that lightroom or Abobe raw converter will not go far enough to restore the white balance and therefore get rid of the red hue. To do that I had to use Canon's own software (I used a Canon 650D to take the picture).

Until I found that out I was rather disappointed with the filter but with this information I did go back and get the 1st trial images I had taken and got the hue looking better. I must get out and have another go with the filter and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for sharing. I also shoot with a 650D so thanks for the tip.

As it looks like you will be using a non converted camera, a tripod is essential as exposure times will be around 30 seconds at least. A remote release is also a good idea too.
Shoot in RAW
Try to set a custom white balance with the filter on - using green grass in sunlight will usually give the best custom balance.
Shoot in RAW
Try red / blue channel swapping in photoshop to return the skies to blue
Shoot in RAW
Look for good blue skies with wispy white clouds
Oh - did I mention - Shoot in RAW

All this talk of infrared and I have no IR camera at the moment - however I've just bought an Olympus E-PL1 that I was going to convert but I think I'll try and swap it for the Panny G1 I gave my lad last week and convert that instead as the G1 is easier to convert:)
Tomorrow I shall be back in the IR game again:)

I've got the Hoya IR 72 filter coming for my birthday. I've watched many of these now and I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

Thanks for all the tips and advice.
