Infrared Photography

I'm just ordered an IR filter from am looking forward to experimenting with it. Anyone else use one? And if you do, do you have anything to show?


Any tips or suggestions about infrared photography??

Is it possible to obtain true IR photographs with a filter? I thought a camera modification was needed?

yes you do get true IR using a filter, same as using a filter with an IR film camera really without the hassles of loading film. However, using a filter slows down the shutter speeds significantly to a point where trees and other foliage blur. This is not always a problem as I've seen some beautiful IR pics where the blurring has been a feature, it depends upon your taste really. I have a modified Canon 300D to shoot full-time IR and for me it was the way to go, I have pics posted on the forums here from the camera. I hope you enjoy the results with the filter, IR is great fun.
