Hi!

I found my old Nikon F80 and was wondering if i need to convert it or do i just need to by special film?

Can anyone help???

Hi and :welcome: to TP :)

You don't need to convert a film camera to do infrared, that only applies to digital cameras

Apparently the Nikon F80 uses an IR beam to count the sprockets as the film advances and they recommend not using it for IR togging. However you may have some luck as not all supposedly IR incompatable cameras will fog the image area, some just fog the rebate.

I suggest you buy a single roll to see how your camera handles the IR issue before you go out and buy a stack of film you cant use.

On the plus side if it does fog then its a great excuse to buy another camera :D

Yep - same fogging problem with the infra red frame counter on an EOS 3.
