Hi
Im looking at buying a second hand canon digital SLR camara and would like some information.
What models can you connect direct to your pc that would let you view the shot after it has been taken as this would be very helpful when taking product shots. Im looking at the 350D 400D 450D and 40D, knowing my luck its none of these.
Thanks Helen
ps I love this forum already everbody is so friendly and informative.

As far as I now all of them can be hooked directly to PC and used with the EOS Utility Software that comes with them.. (My old 300D could, and so can the 30D I've got now).
So if you're buying 2nd Hand, make sure the original discs are included (otherwise you'll need to fork out another £9 ish to buy them off of Canon.

PS, Welcome to the forum.

I think Yoby is right, you should be able to use any of them tethered to the PC. Just be aware that some people have had problems with Mac compatibility.

I really need to look in to this! I have a 40d and would love to tether it to a pc. As i said before id love to shoot wireless and currently looking in to solutions for this

Hi Helen,
They will all work with EOS Utility, but I believe you need Zoombrowser as well. Basically, all the software that comes with the camera. It will work on a PC, but I don't know about a Mac.
Going secondhand, you will almost certainly need to go to Canon's web site and download the latest versions.

Helen - What the experts above said - I would add that your requirements might lend themselves nicely to using a camera with 'Live View' capability which means you can see in the LCD a 'live' image of what you are focusing the camera at & is especially good when you have the camera set up on a tripod & don't want to be bent in half trying to look through the viewfinder!
You can also use the live image to zoom in x10 to make sure you have your subject in perfect focus
The 450D has 'Live View' for sure but not sure what others on your list do?
HTH ... Paul

Paul is right, Liveview could be very useful for tethered shooting. On your list of possibles the 450D and 40D both have this facility.
