Information Commissioner says it's OK to photograph school events

In case you missed it..... last week the Information Commissioner's Office put out a press release.....

As the festive season rapidly approaches and schools start organising their annual Christmas concert or nativity play, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is reminding parents that the Data Protection Act does not prevent them filming or taking photographs of their children and their friends participating in such events.

There's also a good practice note on the subject.

There seems to be a resergence of it at the moment (at long last IMO) - According to the Times today the chairman of ROSPA said that Health & Safety had gone too far and that scraped knees are part of childhood as it helps them learn (gone by Christmas )
