Yes
I know there are many Alt character codes for commonly used symbols (° and © spring to mind [0176 and 0169 respectively]) but I can't find one for the infinity symbol. The only code I can find is Alt+236 but that gives me "ý", not the lemniscate. Windows keyboard with number pad BTW.

Alt 8734 apparently works in Chrome but not Firefox. Not sure if that helps or if it's in a browser you need it. Looks like it's quite difficult to do. Can you not get it from the character map?

∞
8734
221E
but on MAC it's Opt "n"

Did you do it on the number Pad?

Alt+8734 gives me "▲". ∞ gives me what it says on the tin (an advertising slogan, Kodiak Qc) Alt+221E gives me nothing. Mike, yes, on number pad with num lk engaged. Browser is IE11 and OS is Win8.1.

It will depend on the application and font you are using. The only sure way is to copy and paste it from the special symbols in Word - or in Word for example you can type 221E then Alt+x (for the Unicode character)

Easier to carry on simply typing "infinity"!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions, even though they don't work.

Just type 8 and pretend it's been at the Viagra?

But focussing to "8" might confuse people and the pedants would point out (correctly!) that "8" on it's own is meaningless - it needs a qualifying unit (in that context!)

:)

:)

I have a character page bookmarked and just copy and paste.
