Asking for a friend who is going on a safari holiday (honeymoon) they are looking for the best camera they can get, but they have a budget of about £250. Any ideas?

The link above should provide all the info they need.

If I were them i would look at picking up an old entry level dlsr with kit lens something from the Nikon d3000 series should be achievable as it will be much more enjoyable than using a compact point and shoot

None of the major competition and photographic prizes and awards that were won prior to 2010, used cameras that are in production today.

However many of the photographers that used them are still winning awards.

TBH a compact with super-zoom lens will be much more suitable for a safari-honeymoon, where photography is about generating good reminders rather than award-winning wildlife images, and be much easier to cart around too.

If you are lucky to find a Nikon B700 will be great as it has a huge telephoto lens and can shoot in raw as well.
