Spent a while looking at options, and got down to

TT Artisans f2
Pergear f1.7
SG Image 1.8
Pergear 1.8
Yongnuo 1.7

All except the Yongnuo manual focus and under £50, actually counted out the Yongnuo as it is much bigger and don't really need the manual focus.

Almost decided on the Pergear 1.7, wonder if anyone has one? Even better if they use it on M43!

I read in several places that the Pergear and TT Artisans is the same lens, with the TT Artisans lens being limited to f2 due to poor performance wide open.

I have one for the Fujifilm xPro 2. After using it for a couple of months the glass started to move from its mount. Not worth the money I would say.

I read of similar stories, and of control rings coming loose on all of them except the YONGNUO YN 25mm F1.7 M.
I also found it was not as big as I had thought, and reviews compared it very favourably with the Panasonic version, so that is what I have bought.

Less than double the price of the others, but with better reviews, so It would seem all round a better buy.

Seems to be quite a few using TTArtisans but I have no experience myself.

That is one of the ones I looked at, and the review you linked to is a lot kinder than some others. None were very bad, but some did point out some problems

I think you have to balance 'issues' with cost - what can be dealt with and what (if any) can't. :)

Fully agree, it was the mechanical problems that put me off most.

However, for an extra £30, I have far better optical performance, auto focus and camera controlled iris, and the reassurance of much better reviews.

I have one that looks similar to the other manual lenses, but the aperture is really f2.8 not the stated 1.8, and I had to remove the rear element and machine a spacer because it didn't quite focus on infinity.

It is now used on my IR conversion, where it does a reasonable job.
