The better half is off on a course for a week soon and will be driving there so will be taking the sat-nav. I'm looking at going off somewhere for a day whilst she's away so thought no problem, I'll use google maps on the phone but I'd need a holder to fix it to the dashboard/windscreen. I'd seen an advert for the ML Gripgo but the reviews on Amazon are pretty awful. There are loads of different ones available online so it's difficult to choose one over another.

Anyone use one that they can recommend?
 
Asda sell one for about £6. Comes with a circular disc that I siliconed to my dash, then the holder mounts to that with a suction cup. I preferred that to sticking to the windscreen, due to the windscreen sitting too far back.
Works great with my iphone. Halfrauds sell it too, but are £2 dearer.

I don't look at mine on the move, the nice lady tells me when to make a road change. (Mine's built in so no need for a mount.) I do have one of the suction things with a green Gecko foot pad for the device to use in Mrs Nod's car. Seems to work very well. About a fiver from Sainsbury's fuel stations IIRC.

+1 they are absolutely superb.

Whilst they haven't got one yet for the iPhone 6+ I've got a Kenu Airframe as well. Really don't like it from a usability perspective compared to the Brodit clips. Brodit just slides in, much more stable etc.


For just occasional use only I'd recommend the Kenu airframe.

Its easier in a lorry, the steering wheel is (used to be anyway) a lot bigger that a cars
and you could happily spread out a "local map" on that :thumbs:
But you do need to "highlight" some part of the journey, / destination, as you can get a bit dis-orientated
when "spinning the wheel" round a corner

And even more so looking down to the speedo. @ST4 would probably agree with me on that. :) If you place the satnav within your field of view but in "safe" corner" (left bottom area of windscreen for me) it will obstruct far less than the rear view mirror and will not require turning head. That certainly works in well sized cars / trucks, not sure about your typical bunker window sedan or a shoebox car.
