I have next to no views on my Flickr pictures and some of them are alright.

I come across some of the most awful pictures that have loads of views.

Is it down to improving tags or something?

You could post some for comment in the forums, add some to some active Flickr groups and also be more active yourself on Flickr so you get more contacts etc.

Why do you want more views?

Surely decent critique would be more useful....

you need boobs if you want views lol

good tags and picture names help if you want views.

Well I was tempted to say I wanted comments but obviously you need people to see them before they can comment.

I haven't come across the groups part of Flickr yet so will check that out.

Get more contacts, but don't just add loads of randoms, add people who's work you like or shoot what you shoot, I've found when ever I get explored I get lots of new contacts, I add very few of them back as they shoot stuff that is of no interest to me :(

Add to relevant groups but personally I try and avoid post 1 comment on X groups as they're useless they don't add anything of substance to your photos, tag your photos with as many suitable key words as you can think off, add your photos onto the map too, I love this one as it helps me find new locations :D

Thoughtful tags, reciprocal comments and groups.
Having good pictures is mostly irrelevant I think.

As on here I get loads of views but few comments, which Im not really bothered about..images I put on flickr are aimed at a few important friends and contacts..if someone else comments, its always nice to see..having boobs definately helps..females will always be commented on more than males..even on images that are quite undeserving, but thats the nature of the beast. Ive often thought if you go pro, this often helps rather than having a free account. But hey ho, its a useful window to our work..

I'm not very active on Flickr but my most popular photo is the worst on there.. only because of the subject

Don't worry about it. The most viewed image on Explore one day last week was an out of focus snapshot of a bus... over 3000 views in one day. I also saw a breathtaking image that made me want to cry with admiration.. it wasn't on explore, and had 3 views.

It's all [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER]

Why do people feel they need to have views on flickr etc?

I'm not sure.

I don't really 'get' flickr.

I only use it to provide easy access to photos and a way to link them here... and the only reason for it in my signature is to prevent the justified comment aimed at some posters that they are happy to criticise others but fail to provide a link to their own work.

Join a few local groups, quite a few have meets.

You can also find out about local places of interest and maybe even new ways to photograph landmarks etc.

Even if you're not into socialising local people like looking at local stuff :)

Add your images to as many groups as possible, especially ones where it doesn't belong, as that'll generate "anger views". People will always view an image if they have a chance to be outraged by it.

I generated thousands of views on my images this way.

Its a photo sharing site, whats the point of sharing if no-one is looking

Bet your views shot up

Steve

I try to add photos to the groups, put a few tags on, links to camera model, lens used etc

It obviously would be nice to have a hundred views, but that never goings happen to me and my photos as I ain't that good if good at all:thinking:

Nice when someone, just gives a comment or adds them to their favourites as it makes you feel like your getting at least a little right

A Flickr signature might help:shrug:
