Hi

Just a couple of questions.

If you have Photoshop CS3 extended or CS4 extended, can you simply download RAW images from your CF card into photoshop and start manipulating them, OR do you have buy a plug in or something similar in order to do that?

I use a 400D and will be upgrading to a 40D.

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards
Lisa

Hello Lisa,

As soon as you open a RAW file in photoshop, you will be able to manipluate the exposure of the picture, temperature's etc etc and then once you have done that to the image, photoshop will then import your manipulated image.

I use Photoshop CS3 alot and it's very handy to have this ability!!!!!

Photoshop has something called CameraRaw, which you can edit your photos and convert them to a number of formats.

CS4 isn't available yet, it's only just been announced, but with a launch date of 30 October. CS3 is available, however if you are thinking of purchasing Photoshop, wait a few weeks until CS4 is released.

In the meantime you could download the 30 day trial of CS3 to use until the availability of CS4

Yes you can use both CS3 or CS4 to ope RAW files. Adobe have a module known as Camera RAW which provides this facility. Now since CS3 was released several cameras , including your Canon were introduced. So the orriginal version of Camera RAW won't process the files..Don't panic. Adobe publish regular updates for Camera RAW to accommodate newer cameras. These updates are free and come from the Adobe web site. Alternatively if you like the easy option. Under the "Help" tab in Photoshop is an Update tab. Click that and all is done for you

Hi

Thanks for all the replies, greatly appreciated.

Chappers, I have just ordered CS 3 extended with a free upgrade to CS4 when it is released (I checked and double checked this). So it was a bit cheaper to do it this way.

Thanks again.

Lisa
