Hi All, is it possible to import my free wordpress blog with all it's content, comments, and more importantly followers, into a new hosted WP site?

I'm ditching Zenfolio for my site, and going with a hosted WP theme, it has a blog function, and i was wondering if I could import my old blog into the new site, or if i would have to start from scratch and try and get my followers to jump ship, so to speak.

I have tried finding this out from the theme provider, but to ask tech questions you need an order number:shrug:.....which i dont have yet.

cheers

Russ

Yes, should be straightforward - Google 'wordpress.com to wordpress.org'

Ha ha. To add to the just google it.
I'm currently undergoing this change. It is possible to move everything under the export function under tools in wordpress.com once your self hosted site is up you simply import your .xml files via the same import function under tools.
As far as I am aware your followers aren't imorted but all your content will be. If you have lots of content its better to break it down in to sections. i.e your posts first then your pages ect.
hope this helps

there is a site back up and restore plugin forgot what its called tho...
i use it on dev sites

I use "WP Cloner".

Just install on each site then on the original site click to make a backup then copy the address.
Then on the new site click "restore from" and paste in the backup's address

That's it. Job done.
