IMPORTANT NEWS FOR D7K OWNERS

Just some ideas that I have seen thrown around the net (beware these are not confirmed as possible)

- Higher bitrate
- 4:2:2/10 bits
- Clean HDMI output
- Livewiew histogram and aperture control
- 24/25/30 fps at 1080p
- Bigger resolution (2K ?)
- Focus peaking and zebras
- Manual audio levels

and also maybe manual controls for the the D5100/D3100 in video mode!

Interesting.... Still gonna want a D800 by the looks of its spec.

2K is massively overrated, it's only very slightly bigger than HD. Clean HDMI out would be pointless unless it is uncompressed (likely it is not).

4:2:2 would be good, manual audio levels are a MUST, and selectable frame rates are nice (although lol if it doesn't already have at least one of those already).

Will be following this with great interest.

As someone not massively up on the hacking side of camera firmware - I know canon and panasonic's gh range were really improved with hacking firmware tweaks.
In plain English - what's the likelihood of something similar coming out soon for the D7000 then?

I think it depends how stable they can get the hacked firmware, but at the moment its looking good

Thanks fella. Sounds positive, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Know anything about the Sony NEX5 and firmware hacking? I desperately want the full manual video controls found in the NEX5N - what's the chances of that happening via a firmware hack do you think?

I couldn't say, but I think it is unlikely any time soon because Sony don't really have that big a share of the DSLR market yet like Canon and Nikon for enough people to want the hack (that ofc depends on if its even possible)
