When importing into Lightroom, do you apply any Development Settings? Are you importing RAW or JPG? (FWIW, the dresses in the bottom shot are purple on my monitor although not as saturated as the shot above).

Is photo 2 an unprocessed raw viewed in Lightroom and exported without any processing. Are both images straight out of camera jpegs? It seems like Lightroom isn't applying any in camera processing if they both sooc jpegs. If the second photo is a RAW Lightroom hasn't applied the in camera processing that your camera would to display it on the rear lcd which is normal. Could also be a colour calibration issue if ambitent has changed since calibration.

The image you see on the back of the camera is not the RAW image. It is a processed JPEG. It will look different when you download it.

allways shoot raw import raw :)

The in-camera image is processed by the camera using whatever settings you've got setup - Lightroom will use it as a preview*, but nothing more. When Lightroom imports the RAW, you can either tell it to apply your own development settings, or do nothing. Has something changed in your workflow / settings so that you're no longer applying any settings to the image by default?

* It will also replace it as soon as previews are built, which is why Lightroom sometimes shows you a bright colourful image, and then when you open it, or build previews it goes flat.

Have you applied any processing to photo 2? The camera would have applied in camera processing to show the raw file on the rear screen as a jpeg.
i have always got them straight in to lightroom and only done minor corrections to improve the images i know the back of the camera shot is a jpeg but this is a massive colour correction issue puple to blue thats not a RAW issue i don't think?

hi tony i have allways just imported this way no changes i'm aware of, my wife has LR5 and they come in perfect

You haven't changed the Process under Camera Calibration away from 2012 have you?

I'm seeing photo 2 as a dull exposure compared to photo 1 but both dresses are purple. What program are you using to view the raw file on your wife's laptop? If it's only your Mac screen where it's looking like this is it a couple calibration issue?

I'm waiting for someone to come along saying its a gold dress ;)

What differences are in the import settings between your wife's LR5 and your LR6? Sounds like you have a box checked on LR5 that's applying some kind of processing to the RAW file on import.

The only things I can think are different screen colour calibration or import settings. If you are applying exactly the same processing setting in LR5 and LR6 then I would expect the image output to be very similar.

nice one rob corrupted profile i'll try a print and get back to you (y)

It may have to do with you choice of colour space
both in the camera and in your software.

If you have chosen RGB in camera and sRBG in
your software, you are loosing in gamut width or
depth. Just make sure they are both set on RGB.

As above change the camera calibration to Camera Standard will help - I've always struggled to get the shots accurate to whats on the back of the screen (except when shooting Jpeg)
My standard import for the D750 is:

Camera Standard
+45 Sharpness
Lens correction - Auto
+5 Saturation

print is perfect pics were blue now purple yippee!!!

cheers guys it was indeed a corrupted profile, my display profile "calibrated " was corrupt and is also the profile used by the printer, so display and printing were affected. all good now i tried google Rob good job theres someone who knows where to look i just found old posts from years ago.
thanks to all who helped
