hi al i have accidentally placed some images in a sub folder inside another folder, i would like them to stay in the folder they are in but as a sub folder ( if that makes sense) can anyone show me how to do it please
thanks
Bill

Very simple, in lightroom, when you are on the library tab, on the left you have your folder as a tree, you can move folder/create sub folder there and you can select some picture and drag them where you want them to be.
In the futur be carefull in your import/export setting and choose the right path so you don't need to do this again,

Agree with the above.
Although the file manager in LR looks similar to the Windows file manager, you should always move the files/folders using LR.
That way, Lightroom is always aware of the changes in directory structure.
If you move the files using Windows file manager you then need to re-import them into Lightroom, which is an additional step.

thanks for the replies, so if i click on the "+" at the top of the library tab it opens a dialogue box to create another folder, do i create the folder i want there and then drag pics to it ?

IF you want to create a NEW folder - Yes, but in your original post you said you'd accidentally created a sub-folder inside your target folder.
In this case you don't need to create a new folder, simply drag the images out of the sub-folder and drop them into the main folder.
You can then delete the (now empty) unwanted sub-folder.

I always create a new folder for each event! It stops Lightroom slowing up you're PC! It only opens what you wanna actually work on
