Images... How long do you keep yours

As title really

What images do you keep? All of them? even the duffers? How long for?

Just wondering really, not even looked at any images from past seasons beyond the start of this season, sods law states if there deleted someone will ask for one

Considering a cull of images and only keeping the fully edited high res ones rather than keep everything

How long do you keep yours?
 
I get home.. I choose the pics I want and delete the rest... I have hard drives with around 150 thousand pics on... I will never delete them... there also all on my website for sale and are making me money every week...
 
Hi same as Kipax. I sort them at 100%. Dump duffers and duplicats. Save the keepers for ever. Memory is cheap and you never know when you may need them. I have Negs,transparencys from 1958 onwards.

It's a personal call. I've probably got just about all the digital images I've taken going back to around 2004, but I don't shoot huge numbers of photographs and this is probably down to laziness more than anything. Keep meaning to get organised and have a clear out, but they're scattered over several HHDs in two countries, so I don't know when, or if, I'll get round to it. I may not bother, I don't need the extra storage space at the moment.

Kipax, from say 2 seasons ago, how many sales do you get roughly? (out of interest)

Ditto. Though my film archive only goes back to about 1981 as I wasn't on the planet till nearly 10 years after 1958 :)

haha at what sport?

It doesnt really work like that...if I had 5 games from 2 seasons ago on a website... there would be no sales.. if I ahve 10 years of games and over 100 thousand pics and its nearly all regionalised...

I dont know how to explain it.., but the whole site makes me money.. people will buy from one game and see i also photogrpahed them 5 yrs ago.. people will get onto the internet for the first time and eventually find me... with over 100 thosuand pics theres more chance of someone finding you..

my figures wont mean anyhting to you even if i was to give them out...my point is.. the site gives me a steady income of sales.. it wouldnt if i just had a few games on...

dunno if I am explaining it properly..

I've removed some images from my site but left the bigger games (FA Vase Finals for instance) but never really held much hope for sales so far on, like you say though you never know
 
Why have you removed some? My thought has always been.. they might sell if online.. they will never sell if not :)
 
I do as kipax does keep the one your happy to sell dump the rest, also as kipax say I get people buying from the latest event, then searching past galleys for more photos, I sell stuff from years ago still.

You look through my website stats now and again and noticed old images lacked views, hardly any compared to say this year which means less chance of sales
