Images everywhere

I seem to remember some years back, whilst working for Apple, that their was a piece of software that could catalog images from any source, HDD's and CD's - no DVD's back then !, didnt work fantastically, but did work sort off. Now i have about 20 CDS packed with images and its getting a B** ache having to search through a CD to find an image.

Does anyone know the name of the software or recommend a piece of software JUST for cataloging images on CD's.

Picassa might do it, I don't use it so I'm not sure.
