Image looks completely different between Lightroom Classic & Photoshop ( or ACR/Bridge)

Morning All,
I am currently using an iMac 27'' 5K 2020 & one thing that I am noticing is that when I open an image in ACR (via bridge) or in Photoshop, the image looks very washed out, almost like it been very de saturated, compared to how it looks in LrC.

Now I understand (Hope im correct) that LrC you are stuck to working in the ProPhoto RGB colour space, but even when I change the working colour space for Adobe RGB in ACR or Ps (might be doing this completely wrong), nothing changes.

The only thing that makes it look better, but still not completely the same as in LrC, is when I change my iMac Display Profile from the default 'iMac' named profile, to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 which I have read is recommended to be used by Adobe?

I have no intention to prfesionaly calibrate my screen using hardware, as im not printing or professional work. However I would appreciate some advice on what settings/profiles I should be using, if possible. For ref, I shoot RAW & process images ready to be converted to jpgs, which I then upload on various online site & view locally on my iMac or iPad etc.

Many Thanks all

Is this also true if you open an image that has already been saved as (say) an sRGB tiff or jpg, rather than a raw file?

My suspicion would be that in LR you have some form of automatic profile applied during import, but not with ACR / Photoshop.

Okay I am such an idiot! Apologies all, but I have just realised that when im viewing the image in LrC, I of course have the adjustments applied... but then if I open the same file in ACR Bridge or Ps then of course the Lr adjustments have not been applied!

Also to test my stupidity, I removed the adjustment made to the image in LrC & yeah now it looks identical!

Apologies all, my mistake :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

On a side note, am I also right in saying that if you change the colour profile you using in ACR/Bridge or Ps, this only becomes effective when exporting it for whatever use? Hens why I have read that for online uploading or general digital viewing exporting as sRGB is a good way to go.

But if I changed the actual working colour space in either program, what im seeing wouldn't change?
