I have been supplying images to a sports club for a couple of years. This year there is a new member of staff who says that my JPEGS cannot be read in ADOBE IN DESIGN. I use the latest PS CC and send JPEGS. The first image this happened to was 11MP and I was asked for greater resolution for something that would cover about a 1/4 of a front page that is probably just over A5 at best. This never happened before. I tried to chat to ADOBE about it but the transfer they attempted on the chat line did not work. Any ideas? The new person seems unwilling to accept that there might be anolder version of IN DESIGN being used. Help! Two front covers not used for this reason.

When you say 11MP where is that figure from, the camera or Photoshop? When you say can't be read, is that can't be opened or the resolution is not large enough?

An uncropped image from a 6MP camera can print out fine at A4. I've had a full page image in a national magazine from a 12MP Nikon D300S, and that may have been cropped slightly when I edited it. Ask the person how many pixels they want. I think most mags print at 300ppi (if someone knows for sure please correct me) so divide the pixel dimensions of the images you have sent by 300 and that should give you an idea of how big something can be printed before you have to start 'messing about'.

I'll be interested to know where in the process things have started going wrong. :thinking:
 
I was on the Adobe chat line for over 90 minutes being passed around. I sent them one of my JPEGS and the guy opened and it worked. He has told me the settings that need to be used so hopefully this will be done at the other end of this story. It is in the view menu in INDESIGN.
 
I regularly supply images to a couple of magazines that use InDesign and no problem. 11Mb sounds a bit big to be honest. Typically I send about 5-6 Mb and these can end up as full pages. A DPS file is about 8-10 Mb. These are straight out of the export module in Lightroom.
