Edit My Images
No
Hi I am going to need to construct a simple image archive system on a website . There is likely to be upwards of 500+ images of buildings in my village which will be broken up into roads and or districts.

My thoughts are to use a simple gridded map of the village as a home page

Each of the grids link to a seperate page/index of streets which contain thumbnail images of the buildings in that map grid. Then each of the thumbnails link to a full size image with text where appropriate.

Can anyone spot any flaws with this system or suggest any improvements or a differant way entirely?

Anyone ? maybe a link to a good image gallery /website would give me some ideas and tips about constructing one myself .

just had a look in the galleries and I think something along those lines would give me a good simple start.
Is there anyone on the forum that can explain (simply) how I would go about using the galleries on here to host my pictures and use it in conjunction with a website of my own , possibly hosted here also.
Sorry this is all a bit new to me so I have very limited understanding of this..

thanks slapo ok so I construct my website with say a gridded map of the village on the home page .Each of the map grids link to a seperate page on my site which has a gallery of thumbnails and street index . Then each of the thumbnails are linked to a seperate page with a full size image and text etc yes ?
Could I get all that hosted on here ? and how would I go about doing it ?

You mean hosted on here as in getting images hosted on TPf?

I'm positive you could do that with either Coppermine or Gallery 2, although the street index might require a modification unless it's a set of images.

You can make the map grid as an image map or you can do it using javascript or flash or perhaps something else and you could just link to a category (in coppermine), which can contain subcategories and albums and you could change that to city districts and streets in the locale files, for example.
Not sure if I answered exactly what you wanted to...

Thanks yes I'm sure you have answered my question for now but I'll need some more detail later of exactly how it could be done .
If I make up a map of my village of lots of seperate pictures like a grid I can make each square a page link.
I thought the easiest way to do this is with a website unless I could get software that will create galleries like on here. I'll check out coppermine as its unknown to me .
Thanks for your help so far . much appreciated.
