imac

new computer on the way imac i7 8g of memory 2g graffix what photo software do i need?

If you have an imac then aperture can be got via the app store at a cheaper rate than the open market version.

I'd say that Lightroom is probably the software that others are judged against, but not cheap.

First off I'd suggest using iPhoto and see how you get on with that, then get either aperture or photoshop elements from the app store (about £50 each) when you've worked out what aspect of iPhoto is limiting you.

I'd agree with all that, for me the really big problem with iPhoto is you can't turn the face cataloging part off, for most folk that will not matter but it was a big issue with photography I do.

iPhoto does have a surprising amount of tools for a freeby app :)
