Anyone else experiencing this problem - you put the Mac to sleep and at repeating intervals it automatically awakens for a while then goes back to sleep and so ad infinitum?

This has been driving me nuts, and a quick web search reveals its a very common issue, usually attributed to the bluetooth mouse and/or keyboard or attached USB devices causing the problem although no-one, including Apple, seem to have any definitive answer.

Having tried all the 'fixes' without success, I've now taken to just quitting Safari and email before I but the machine to sleep and this has totally cured the problem for me so give it a try if you're getting the problem.

Mine sometimes wakes up immediately you've put it to sleep. I've had it wake at random intervals but there's usually a cat nearby that might have had something to do with it... I don't use bluetooth keyboard or mouse though.

Think you're right about email though. It might only be necessary to set the email and browser to an offline mode so you don't have to keep restarting each day.

maybe the email causing the wake to check for mail? if its at a certain interval could make sense?

What I should do of course is try it quitting just the email and just Safari, but I suspect you're right and email is the culprit.

Never had it wake on it's own unless I've set it to sleep before I've disconnected my iphone..... that makes it wake.

I use standard mac mail and a bluetooth mouse.

Not a problem I've come across. I use Mail and safari whenever my laptop is on and regularly allow my MacBook pro to sleep. I use the inbuilt trackpad and keyboard 99% of the time so there's no foul play from bluetooth devices in my setup.
