I have spend an hour on 3 operate occasions trying to link my credit card to my PayPal wallet - at the first phone call they promised 101% to "pass it to someone higher up" to sort it out and that they would call me back - never happened - no call back - so another hour of the phone with an operator who new nothing of the first call and just repeated like a parrot all that had already been said - promises to sort it and call back - never happened - same again the 3rd time.

They have my credit card details on their system - but the credit card is not "active" and I cannot use it for payments - they say that they cannot "add it" at their end and when I try to add it to the wallet I just get an error message etc., etc., I have checked the info, card number/details, billing address no end of times, but no joy - my Bank account details, (Debit card) are in my wallet and that can be used for payments, but there are certain payments for which I want to use a credit card and not my bank account.

As far as I can see the problem is that my CC was "deleted" from the PP when it expired, date wise, and now for some reason the PP system will not accept the new expiry date - but I could be completely wrong

The problem seems to be that more and more on-line sellers seem to use PayPal and only PayPal for their payment transactions.

I suppose that I could close the account and try to open a new one

No downsides whatsoever. Paypal are irrelevant in 2022 and have been for many years.

Section 75 gives you far more protection than Paypal ever will and even debit cards have charge back options for goods no received etc.

I closed my PP account and opened a new PP account which was approved and OK - I then tried to link my CC to my PP wallet - no joy same as before, would not accept it

I then called my CC company HSBC - they said that they had received a request from PP with the usual £1 "test" payment, but HSBC said that it had been requested in a way that HSBC did not accept so they rejected it and that I should take the matter up with PayPal.

This all started with my trying to buy a camera from the online supplier Panamoz - Panamoz only accept payments through the PayPal system, they do not accept payment by any other means, e.g. not by CC or even Bank transfer, (which I would never use anyway)

Copied from the Panamoz website...

If you would like to pay with your debit/credit cards without having to use a PayPal account, please make sure you are on the "PayPal Guest Checkout" page, as shown below.

You don't need a Paypal account to pay Panamoz.

Whilst they do process their payments via Paypal, I haver never logged into my Paypal account to pay them because this can cause issues with Section 75 (ie you funded your Paypal account in order to pay Panamoz). By not logging in and funding Paypal you are paying Panamoz directly and thus less issues should a problem arise where you need Section 75

I have spoken to Tina, by email maybe 5 times, she knows the problem, I asked if I could pay by credit card - this was her reply

"Thanks for your email. We're sorry, we're unable to bypass PayPal directly, as we use them to process card payments"

They do use Paypal to process the credit card. But follow these instruction (on a desktop. Phone or tablet may be different)

Add you item to the cart
Click the shopping bag in the top right of the website and then click "View and edit cart"

Here you will see the items in the cart and you will also see a Yellow Paypal button. Don't click that.
Just below you will see a Visa / Mastercard/ Amex / Discover button. Click that

You will be taken to a Paypal login page. Do NOT log in!
Below the Log In button is a Pay by Debit/Credit Card button. Click that.

Enter your billing and shipping address and provide your card details.

Beware. That if you use your email address that Paypal has on file, they WILL try to get you to login. Ignore it!
Also where it says "Save information & create your PayPal account". Make sure that is off.
