A Canon 5D :D

Yup bought a low mileage model from a good friend yesterday, after the Big Cat Meet. Not really had a chance to test it out fully due to the time I got home last night but I'm already in awe of the view through the viewfinder :) It's so nice so put a 50mm lens on and it actually being 50mm! It makes such a difference, the 24-105L is just the perfect general purpose lens for the ff sensor, it was always a bit "odd" on my 30D.

Oh and the sound the shutter makes

I'd like to thank Dark Star, Robert P and rwotton and for all their help, advice and general persuasion that this was the right decision to make and Jonnyreb for looking after it so damn well before finally handing it over, it's bloody immaculate mate ;)

Wondered how long it'd be before you buckled  Congrats!

nice one paul hope you enjoy it for a long time

dave.

As I said Joe, I haven't really "used" it yet but my initial feelings are that it's a really solid camera, a bit heavier that the 30D and feels nicer to hold. It's certainly not the build of a 1 series but none the less it still feels like a superb quality body

No samples?

Seriously, congratulations and enjoy the camera :)

OK, I guess we'll have to wait a bit for those :p

lol, give me a chance ;) :p

As an experiment I'm going to take some sample shots putting the same lens on my 30D and 5D and shooting from the same position, just to see the benefit / difference of the ff sensor. I'll post up some of the results :)

Good for you Paul ... ... and may you be very happy with your new toy ... ;)

How long before we see some results then m8 ...

Often thought about doing that with the 1DsMkII next to the 30D but never got on with it..:(

Laughed when I read the bit where you said just looking through the viewfinder its such a difference, I thought the very same the first time I looked through a FF camera..:D

Congrats mate, Its a bigger world with Full Frame, enjoy it..

Congratulations:woot:

It's certainly a camera worth waiting for!!

Did this today with the 300 2.8 +1.4 then 2x converter, and the 30D shots look a lot better

Re Shutter noise - is it quieter than the 30d - my only complaint with the 30d so far is that the shutter is fairly loud...

Nice one Paul - and not much credit to me I'm afraid! I must have caught you at a weak -)

Results of my sensor comparison experiment here :)

well there goes the exclusivity of the FFclub

I'll have to go and buy a new nikon now

:) congrats

ps.....making sure there is nothing odd in the shot is hard now.......wide lenses are wide !

Congrats mate! A fine camera indeed. The High ISO capabilities are also to be noted in this beastie.

Thanks everyone :D I'm already hopelessly in love  and I've only taken a few shots with it lol.
