Hi folks! On Monday I headed off with my lovely wife for 10 days r&r in my homeland of N.I. - flew to Belfast / hired a car & spent a few days in a superb hotel on the shores of Lower Lough Erne nr Enniskillen (it p!ssed down but we made the most of it!) - then drove to Co Donegal to visit my brother in his new house nr Ballyliffen (it p!ssed down but we made the most of it!) - on Saturday we headed for Antrim to spend the last five days with my sister - I returned the hire car to the airport & settled down for a relaxing time (still it was p!ssing down but we were detemined to make the most of it!) - around tea time I decided to download the pictures I had taken so far to a hard drive - "Where's the camera rucksack dear?" - "No idea dear" - Clucking bell I thought when the realisation hit me I had left it in the hire car! :bonk: (D200 / 2 lenses & a few other bits & pieces) - after a frantic phone call to the airport drew a blank as no such bag had been handed in yet but they would speak to the office where the cars are returned & let me know - the car had gone out with a new hirer by the way :runaway: - after waiting for a couple of hours I headed back to the airport (fortunately its only 10mins away) - I found the guys who clean out the cars & they had my bag safely stored away & returned it to me :woot: - with a knowing smile the guy said "some expensive looking gear you've got in there!" :suspect: - I'm still in shock today but then again the sun did come out :lol:
So stand back Renee I think I have taken over your mantle as the biggest idiot on TPF ... Paul :shake:

Glad it resolved well. Too serious a subject that for even me to make a joke out of it! :eek:

Atleast you were only ten minutes away from your gear. I was back in Northumberland before I realised my stuff was in the hotel in Cambridge.
 
Glad you got it back paul, could have been so much worse.

Thanks for the positive vibes I think I've recovered now although it's p!ssing down again! Should be dry 2moro when I take my brother on on the golf course ... Paul ;)
 
I'm not sure it beats mine but I'm sure glad you got your kit back.
 
You didnt really have too much luck with the weather did you! Its been ******* down here for a few weeks now.

Worst weather ever! Don't think the rest of the UK has been anything to write home about but in NI (& Donegal) we have had 2 dry days out of ten :bang: - more time for draught Magners & lots of red wine though :lol:

ooeerrr, gives me a queasy tummy just reading it. :gag: ALWAYS check I have kit bag when leaving somewhere these days.... dont always remember to see if the kids are still with us [they'll find us eventually no matter how far we run :lol: ], but kit bag, definately.
 
Crikey Bob Paul ... :eek: ... even with insurance that'd be too horrific to contemplate ... :suspect: ... doesn't make you an idiot though cos I bet we've all done very similar things ... not all of us would own up to it though so good on you m8 ... ;)


So glad you recovered the lot safely though ... as said already thank heaven there are one or two honest peeps in this world ... and you just happened to come across the other one ... :thumbs:
