Hi all, i do apologise for how many times this has no doubtly been asked but i did a search and didnt come out with a complete answer so thought i would ask.

My partner is a ref for local weekend football games, mostly under 14's/15s and then a "open-age" womens and it keeps popping up about me taking my camera along and do some snapping (amongst us both and family), but im always concerned to if im allowed to or not (which i find stupid, but thats the way of the world it seems)

So i think my 2 questions are, is there any rules within these games for togging. And is there any rules that are aged related?

Im only trying to cover myself before i commit to this, i have been to many of her matches to watch her ref, and only somtimes see the odd person taking photos that i assume are NOT professional and wish many times i had my camera with me.

Hope someone can advise.
Thanks
Andy

There is no law against taking pictures of people of any age. The only thing that may work against you is if the games take place on private property, where a no photographs rule may exist. It could be seen as courteous to seek permission from the teams involved, usually the manager will be the one in the know (should any of his children be involved with social services etc). But on the whole... snap away :)

Hi Andy, whenever I want to photograph a match I always ask, out of courtesy, if they agree to this and I find I am better received by people and we get off on the right foot.

My wifes hairdresser and her husband and children are family friends and her son plays for an U16's side and I asked if it would be alright for me to come along and photograph a match and they can have some shots of their son.

Her husband asked the team manager if it would be OK and he asked the other boys parents and the opposing team if they minded me photographing the match and everybody said that would be fine, BUT, if one person had objected then I wouldn't have been allowed to.
