Never used a flash and thought I would try, thanks Digital_Clarity for the loan. This was taken at our local roller rink using a Canon 380X with a difuser on.

How could I have improved the shot...without giving you the camera to take the shot ;)

so you pulled in all the ambient you could

a roller rink doesn't sound like it offers much in the way of bouncable surfaces so I'm gessing bouncing it wasn't an option

the next thing is to make it bigger with a diffuser - a lightsphere might have helped but might not have

or get it off camera which is hard to do in somewhere mobile like that

so I reckon you did a pretty good job of it circumstances considered

only thing I woulda done different is shot below f4 (like f2.8) and maybe gone for a slower shutter speed to bring in the disco lights but 2.8 needs kit and knowing how far to push the shutter takes practice

so what to do next time is chimp and try new stuff :D

Cheers, the windows were blacked out and if you new Silverwheels in Broadheath it has been there for as long as I can remember and I think still has the original paint on the walls. I have never used a flash but tried shots with the flash at different angles. As for a 2.8 lens I would love one I used the std kit lens:'(
