Hi all,

Just putting the feelers out to see if anyone is ever in need of a helping hand with shoots anytime in the Cambs, Peterborough, Huntingdon or Kings Lynn areas?

Basically I thought that to extend my learning and meet some like minded people, I would offer my support for whatever photo activities may come along.

I work mon-fri 8am to 6pm but evenings and weekends are mostly free.

I have my own vehicle and don't want money towards fuel, just the chance to learn

I'm a trustworthy, motivated, hard working 31 year old guy so please don't think this is an empty promise. :nono:

If anyone needs a hand, If I'm available, I'm there!

Thanks,

Luke.

Check out local photography clubs, they can have lots of people with lots of experience and do all sorts of photography :)

Luke, it might be a good idea to specify what sort of help you can give - I'm talking about your level of experience and any particular strengths and specialisms. When you contact photographers make sure you tell them how you can benefit the shoot, not what you want to get out of it - most professionals get offers of assistance regularly so you'll want to stand out from the crowd. Most can't risk taking a stranger on assignment due to the liability factor - do you have insurance? That might be a good selling point, for example, and shows you're serious. Harvey's suggestion is a very good one, joining a club means you can get to know people first, and they'll then be more inclined to involve you in a shoot. But choose your camera club carefully, some are very good, others less so.

Sounds more hassle than it's worth to be honest. I was just offering a friendly helping hand. I just knew that people get stuck sometimes and don't know who to call on.

The problem I've found is suspicion.

I've twice offered local people to me the opportunity to borrow/use one of my lenses to assist with their purchasing decisions and both times it's come to nothing because they are worried I'll turn out to be a mugger after their existing expensive camera kit.

Fair comment there byker. Shame the world has come that :(

Sadly there are people who will exploit a situation, this makes people wary of those with good intentions who offer their help. It's a shame the world is like this.
