I'm considering an upgrade to a D300

My question is this:

I have a mint condition Nikon D200 UK model (originally purchased from Grays of Westminster), a mint condition Nikon 18-200mm DX VR lens (originally purchased from Jessops) a good condition MB-D200 (purchased used from eBay), two original Nikon EN-EL3E and one Digi-Quick "pattern" batteries.

All the above items come boxed with all manuals and documentation.

My question is this: Do you think I could sell the whole lot as a bundle for around the £900 mark?

I know it's a bit of a cheeky question and Mods, if I've crossed the line, I'm sorry.

I'm just having a bit of a dither and don't wanna list it in the for sale forum without having some idea of what I might get for it.

Any comments would be appreciated...

I cannot see you losing anything by trying if it sells it sells and you get the D300.

You'll have more chance of selling if you split them up.
There are more peeps here with the beginnings of a kit they want to add to, than nothing at all...

Thanks for the input guys. I may well bite the bullet and do just that...

Only problem is I cannot bear to be without a camera and, if it takes me a while to sell them piecemeal, I won't be able to buy the D300.

Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained eh?

What's the D300 got that the D200 isn't delivering at the moment?

Is this just a bad case of NAS?

Sprog, you hit the nail on the head, fairly and squarely...

:-)

Just what I was thinking... (not being rude) are you trying to keep up with technology
(wanting for wantings sake sorry) :schtum:
but if the D200 is as you put it is in mint condition why would you want to get rid ????????? :bang: is the D200 lacking that much you need the D300........ end of rant very sorry :schtum:
(Anyway I might add there is nothing wrong with technology there would be advancement unless people threw money at the latest gadget, cameras, telephone, pda`s, computers etc etc )

I'd be doing the same as the OP.
The D300 is a very real up-grade!

Keep the batteries for your new D300. You will regret selling them. Good luck with the sale, you wont regret buying the D300.

D300 uses different batteries to the D200 doesn't it?

D300 is a brilliant camera, go for it

but why sell the 18-200vr?

Strange, its just on the site i get my spares from it says the D300 has something extra.

Well, in truth I'd like to keep it as a "walk round" lens. However, I have two key reasons:

1) I have replaced most of the focal length of the 18-200 with thr 17-55 and 80-200 f/2.8 lenses
2) I reckon that, with the proceeds from the sale of the D200, MB-D200 and the 18-200, I will be into a situation where the cost to change for a D300 will be only about £100

Worth doing? I think so but I'm not totally sure...

Alternatively you could sell the lot and get a 5D, they are reasonably priced at the moment.
That said, you'll be starting from scratch on glass and you do have some nice lenses.

Well if you've already replace the FL then sell it but....

I paid £400 for my 18-200 about 2 weeks ago, so S/H your probably only looking at getting around £250
for that i'd keep it (if you can afford to) its one of the best lenses i've ever had

Don't disagree with that and perhaps it's for that reason that I may not be too succesful selling it here.

However, over on the old eBay, the average price a used 18-200 is going for is around £360-380.

The D300 has some compatibility issues with non-genuine batteries, especially when using the battery grip. Genuine batteries pose no problem between the D200 & D300.

I love my D300 btw but I really didn't enjoy using the D200 when I had to use one for a job - the differences were very noticeable to me.
